AH HA!!.. I knew you guys couldn't have all made it up that. That is one mutha of a hill. I wiped out years ago climbing it (poorly) on a honda bike. Just walking it when its been raining is a real treat.

Anyone bottom out on the berm at the top? How many were stock vehicles (at least open diffs)?
I so want to go try that again after a day or so of rain Just enough to slick it up a bit...

You could also say it's going through puberty, growing up in a way. If I'd had some more aggressive tires I probably would have made it. Just hoping at this point that I'm going to be able to get all this stuff done in time for the jam...

I figure you really need 3 wheel drive for that hill. (That would be 4wd + a locker.) Shane was in 2wd + locker, and I was in 4wd + nada. The other guys made it up with little trouble.

Although, it does seem like the 4Runner's slightly shorter wheelbase gave them a small advantage...

I think all the 4-runners we had that made it up were locked in the rear, may have been the deciding factor, and Mark and I ran it when it was still relatively packed down. It was getting pretty torn up towards the end.

Man, I don't know, between Jim's "dark culvert" and Rob's "decent pucker," I'm not sure if this is the type of people I want to associate with- maybe I should think about getting a jeep....

Hey Mike-

Great job with the video- what software did you use to put it together? Any freeware stuff available on the web to do the same sort of thing?

adobe premier 6.5 is a video editing program very pricy though (most of them are) unless you get it off Kazaa or something like that.

Win XP/ME include Windows Movie Maker. That's probably what you're looking for...

Hey David,
I used Pinnacle Studio. It came free when I bought my video camera.

Huh, I've got Win ME and didn't even think to look for it, thanks Jim. Any of you guys going to be able to come out and play this week? Rob suggested Mt. Gardner might be a fun place to go, but I'm open to suggestions.

Cool. Is Mt. Gardner in the same general area? For some reason I'm thinking you pointed it out when we were at the top of the peak last week.

Yep, just West of where we were. But we might want to hold off on it a bit. In the Spring it is pin-stripe city until the bushes get beat back a bit and we had some awful shiny rigs with us last time...

Hmmm- is there anything further West of Tinkham (ie. less of a drive?) worth exploring?

Just Gardner really...

We still have plenty of the top of Tinkham to do as well as some sections of Gardner that might not be overgrown. Then it's out to Easton

I won't be making this run. We are taking off Thursday after work to do a little camping.
Have a good one guys/gals. Take lots of pics.

Hey Mike,

Have fun camping! I went two weekends ago, and had real mild temps, no bugs yet (went off Mt. Loop Highway). I'm sure there will be plenty of pics afterwards. I'm thinking of mounting my dig, camera via velcro to the dash, so I can record some vids while driving over tough sections, will call it the "chemist cam" or something stupid like that.
