TRying to plan a trip to combine mountain biking, camping and off roading and everything that goes with it some where near virginia beach and was wondering if anyone had any good ideas or trails in mind.

Go down to frisco N.C.Wheel on the beach all you want.Route 12 has lots of dirt trails/roads to check out from buxton and south.

 

+1 on the Outer Banks but if you want to camp you have to stay at a campground. My avatar pic was taken at Oregon Inlet. My neighbors like the KOA on Hatteras Island. They have beach front. If you want to camp on the beach you can go to Chincoteague Island, MD. They are a state park that allows camping on beach. Chincoteague, VA is federal land and has 4x paths but no camping on beach. The reason I mention these areas is they are a couple of hours from VA Beach. VA Beach has False Cape State Park but I don't think you can drive off road there. And you have to camp in a specific area. If you do go to False Cape you should make reservations early online. We've tried for spur of the moment trips and they seem to always be booked.

What did OP end up doing? Just noticed post date of 1-5-2000! I really wanted to subscribe to this thread becasue we would like to find a closer place to camp on the beach! Chincoteague is buggy! And isn't it cool that Iselloil's avatar complements mine?

 

Eastern shore national park is a Great place.My avatar is from frisco. Plenty to do.Fish,fish,crab, fish.Ride the beach.Take the ferry to okacoke.

 

My bad about the date I was using an iPhone and didn't really know what I was doing. But thanks for all the ideas I'll scope those places out.
