what broke: my camera seems to have gone hawire and is giving me some error # 18. i gotta figure this out...

anyway.. i had a BLAST. much better than last time. its about time some 4x4ers got stuck!!!!!!

it was unfortunate that erics truck broke so quicky (i'll let him explain this one) and his friends chevy (of course, it's a chevy )

Yeah, turns out I had a little "accident" as a result of hot dogging... well it is probably going to be costly... some wierd nosie coming from underneath, cant pinpoint it. Happens when I take off rather quickly from a stop or shifting into another gear rapidly.

Anyway, the accident was hauling butt and "falling" into a ditch, about a 2.5-3' drop. It bent the lower radiator support and forced the bumper up about 2". If someone had pics, they will better illustrate the situation....
Needless to say, I am a little depressed about the situation, but oh well...

here's erics truck. i resized the picture, but you couldnt seen the carnage very well, so i kept it at the original size, i appologize for the physical dimensional size of the picture, but the file size should be small.


and this is what you get when you go to see a broken truck, and while leaving, you get stuck.



yes, that is a broken CV axle, snapped right at the differential.

mind you, this all happened within the first 3 minutes of our first run once i got there.

i got all my pictures off my broken camera.. i'll post them on webshots tomorrow

I guess that's what happens when you kids go off unsupervised.

oh ya!!!

I PULLED SOMEBOD OUT! there were these 4 kids driving by our camp site with a grill in the back of their 4x2 ford i think it was. they told me they aired down to 22 in the front and 25 in the back, and i laughed my ass off.

i ran and got my truck, grabbed a tow shackle from george, and pulled them out with my 2wd!!!! they then aired down to 12

 

I've got a few pics and vids here . Videos are too small, should've taken it at a higher resolution.

my only carnage was a missing driver side front mudflaps.

Good call on Splash Cafe Chowder. There were more Bread Bowls flying around that place than I have ever seen in one place before!!

 

i was sitting down here all weekend beating myself up over not being able to go this weekend. glad you guys had a good time! wish i could have been there. well, if you guys had that much fun, maybe you're up to plan another trip soon??????

you guys are all gonna be able to make the Anza Borrego desert trip next month, right??? it's well worth the drive out there (only about an hour to 1.5 hours from san diego).

only a 3 hour drive from downtown los angeles (hint hint eric, bud...)

if you want to play in some REAL sand dunes, glamis is only about 45 minutes from where we will be camping.

HA HA HA, thats true... my mom told me to be super careful!!!

Good news is that I was able to file a claim with the insurance and they should cover the damage... bad news is that i am getting a wierd noise that I cant pinpoint, sounds like something rubbing or slipping , I think its coming from the driveshaft!?!?

Anyway, hopefully I could get that video together to post... we could make it a "What not to do..." video :pat:
