I may duck out of the UofA ASU football game I was going to this weekend and come.
Just need to see if the tickets can get used and if the girl is up for it.
We'd be freezing our asses off too camping. Hotels suck. : )

I am happy to lead the trail on Broken Arrow and Soldiers pass if we do go. I have a CB, Ham Radio 2m or 440, and a GPS. Let me know where to download the trails and I'll do that.

I'll let you know if we are making it.

The cheapest hotel I found was motel 6 for like 85 dollars. Um, 27 dollars for camping is cheaper. Espically since I haven't gone in 2 yrs. .

If you can make it SoazTim let me send me a pm and I'll get you the information. Soliders pass may or may not get run depends on time where hitting up Oak Creek Homestead trail. I'm going to try and lead that one . Just have to get a radio to communicate with someone with a cb, so they can inform the others in the group.
If you want to lead BA that's fine if your able to make it.

If you can't make it. Enjoy the game.

Oak Creek Homestead Trail if I haven't posted it before:

If you want to camp on schnelby hill road you can do it for free! (less any cost of a permit if there is one) There is definately no snow up there so the road should be open and it leaves right from the middle of town so it has good access to the different trails.

I just got a spot in case the road closes. I've been told it closes at random times.

Saturday: Rain likely. Cloudy, with a high near 50. Breezy, with a southwest wind between 20 and 23 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 37 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

I'm not quite sure. The two yuma members that were plannng to come can't. One had rear end failure in his truck and other has handicap son and doesn't think he will make the trip very well.
Members from ttora I really have no clue. I think 2 - 3 people are coming and one is coming down Sunday morning to run BA. Yotatech members that I know of are 3 you, then steve and 11db are the maybe's. I'll just have to wait and see if any else chimes in before the run or just wait until saturday morning.

Weather I'm not too worry about unless it gets really nasty. It might defer some of the pink jeep tours on Broken Arrow though.

coming from Yuma yeah you are gonna be cold. I still see kids her wearing shorts and sandals. CRAZY! I came here from San Diego and I froze my 1st winter (last year). Also get ready to lose alot of power cause the altitude. We live at 7K feet so bring your inhaler if you need it, trust me on that last one, I know from experience.

Okay. I'll be on:
Channel 4 on CB.
Channel 146.800 on 2 meter. Unless someone showing up uses 440

There is something about flagstaff. I've been all over the country in cold areas and Flagstaff FEELS the coldest. I know its not, but there is something about the dry cold there that chills to the bone!
After 2 years at NAU from Dana Point I froze my ass off and transfered to UofA.

That was a blast! I was surprised at how non-existent the mud was.
That wasn't the case for smiley rock. Holy crap loads of mud.

On the main road or in the challenging section?

Was there snow up top?

Sorry I missed it , but I did get our kitchen plumbed and wired.

No snow. Tons of ice in the morning. It was in the 20's when I woke up. Brrr!
Main road was just a bit of mud. Not bad. I started in Jerome. There were three fallen trees in the road I had to clear, but I'll explain that in the trip report.
the mud was just after the hard section. The hard section was slick as snot though. The good news. The mud was all frozen this morning!

I'll have my photos/report in a while. Sounds like you found smiley rock, did that map help?

I'm tired.
