NorCal | Open Winter Trails around Mammoth/Bishop

I'm researching this online now, but am hoping to get some information from those experienced in this area.

An idea came up with some friends to visit the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest for some photography shooting. Some of the roads/trails around the area are closed due to snow, but I'm curious if there any trails to check out that would be open to 4WDs. I'm not looking for Rubicon wheelin here, but reaching some 4WD-only-accessible spots would be nice for some places to shoot.

I'd likely be the only truck, and am capable enough to not worry too much about the possibilty of getting stuck, but at the same time I'm not looking for danger and will play it on the safer side. Maybe even some others could come along, who knows.

Bristlecone is closed for winter. Coyote is open year around. A good web site to check out for local trails is www.gbr.4wdtrips.net

You can go out of Big Pine to either Saline or Eureka Valleys in the winter. Eureka is big sand dunes and Saline has hot springs.
