i've got my weekend cleared to go wheeling, yay! now i'm trying my best to get my gears finished. i hate working on a deadline...
i was thinking of coming up early sat morning from sac, but what's the deal with saturday night/evening. are y'all planning on camping overnight or is everyone gonna split? can we just make camp on the trail? oh yeah, i've got no CB, that gonna be a problem?

i am so up for an eagle lake run. might disapoint some into more extreme stuff but eagle lake area is beatiful. lots of roads all over out there.
mike was worried about stock rigs going up because of the snow. it didn't melt as fast as we'd hoped but i think it should all still be ok. need to talk to mike more. no matter what we will still have a trip. agree it's to hard to get days off.

well if we switch it, which i doubt this late in the game, it will only change to the paynes creek, ponderossa, pelegreen area. I do not want to go up hogs back because as the images showed it is in a way boring but the worst of it is the 5 miles of cobble you have to travel over. going in by way of paynes creek would be better. until mike gets back to me i am just gonna say it is still the highlakes.

how does eagle lake tie in with the fordyce trail? i thought i had traveled every road out of eagle lake.....
we used to take dad's dune buggy out there and travel all around. it was mucho fun. in some areas if your lucky you can even see antelope although it can be rare. i put in for the antelope hunt every year with no success yet.

Well we went up sunday, I guess you could sum it up like this. The first 6hrs was a blast, the last 6hrs was GAY.
Keep in mind this pickup is on 42" IROKS
Now judging from those pics, and the experience with what happened on sunday and talking with some of the more experienced people that have gone up there. The conditions are okay if you like snow wheeling a lot, but it is starting to melt and becoming really difficult to drive on. The lowest rig we had was on 35's and most of us had some issues one way or the other.
As you can see from how many beads i popped, i will NOT go up unless there is a few trucks with OBA capable of resetting beads multiple times, and i will also not go unless there is a couple usable winches. I know john has a winch, but if he doesn't have the ability to make it as far as the rest of us to pull us when we get stuck whats the point?
I believe they plowed to philbrook, but its pretty lame to only go that far, i wouldn't drive two plus hours to just go to philbrook.
We have been talking and don't know if it would be worth the hassle to have stock rigs even attempt. We had a Honda passport () with limited slip in the rear that couldn't make it past the first snow pile. There is a lot of snow piles that are off cambered and sidehills along with many cliffs to slide off if you are not careful. Id recommend rescheduling if possible.

Looked great though, wish I could drive all that area.

Im not sure when it is supposed to fully melt, its been pretty hot here, but there is still quite a lot of snow that is going to take a while to melt. It is dissapearing pretty quickly though, but there is still going to be a LOT this weekend.
