NIORA Second Annual Winter Paragon Run - Feb 10-12, 2006

NIORA has just announced it's Second Annual Winter Paragon Run for the dates of February 10-12, at Paragon Adventure Park in Hazleton, PA.

We will likely end up staying at the Comfort Inn as a group, as it is typically WAY too cold to camp in January in PA. The Comfort Inn offers a discounted rate for Paragon attendees of $69.95/night + $5.00 for pets.

Pet's and kids are ALWAYS welcome at NIORA runs.

Well...we're still ironing out the little details, like, when we're meeting, and what not - but It's generally about 8:30 at the park.

Also, if this weather keeps up the way it's been the past few days, we might even consider camping.

It's looking like there will be 2 groups on the trails - Big and Little. The big group typically runs Blue 1s and 2s...maybe a 3...the Little group will run up to a Blue 1 to keep it stock/newbie friendly.

Typically, we request that everyone have a CB as the range is much better, they're louder than FRS and much clearer, but sometimes this can't really happen. If you do have a CB, wonderful, if you don't, a good place to check is a pawnshop or eBay for a handheld one. Otherwise, we do also carry FRS radios with us to relay the messages to those without CB. However, sometimes in the Little group, there are more people without CB than with...if thats the case we'll just run on FRS. We do require that all trucks have at least CB OR FRS though - most people have extra FRS radios, and I have two handheld CBs that I can bring if you contact me ahead of time - and promise to return to me...

After the run, we typically head back to the hotel/campground, exchange photos and then go out or cook dinner - all depending on the weather, and whether we're camping or staying in the hotel. Something seems wrong about being able to shower during a big 4wheeling weekend....call me crazy. LOL. Then those who aren't staying overnight head out.

This one will be a two-day run, with the majority of the people wheeling on Saturday. I personally will be wheeling both days. I drive a 99 Pathfinder w/ 32s and a bunch of crap on the roof....you can't miss it.

PM me here, or join up on the forums at NIORA (http://www.niora4x4club.com/phpBB2) if you're planning on attending with your contact information, and I'll reply with mine...hope to see a bunch of you there.

One last bump for this bad boy....

Let's get some Yotas out there!

Note the date in the sub-title is incorrect - the correct date for this event is February 11th-12th.

Well...so far it's mostly Nissans, but we do have Jonathan of Keystone Krawlers and Eric (94toytruck, sas 38.5s twin-stick...etc etc) coming up on Sunday...

The group is pretty diverse so far though, there's going to be everything from Stock Hyundai Santa Fe's to Eric's SAS Yota...LOL.

Definitely let me know if you guys are coming and I'll PM you my cell number.

Findapath. I would only go for 1 day, I live about an hour away, would you suggest SUnday or Saturday, and also, are you serious about the Santa Fe's???? If so, count me in, I won't feel so bad.

Hehehe...Yes, I'm dead serious...we've got a Santa Fe comin down on Saturday....there's going to be more people on Saturday, but Eric and Jonathan are coming Sunday....so it's really up to you on what you wanna wheel, who you wanna wheel with. There's going to be stock and mod groups both days....I'll be leading stock on Saturday and running mod on Sunday.

Saturday after the run, we're all going to go to Damon's for dinner, and then head over to the bar at the Comfort Inn where most of us are staying.

The stock group will stick to green trails and will take a gander at Outer Spare Tire (the easier water crossing). The mod group will probably run Inner Spare and do mainly blue trails. Maybe a few blacks on the side. I know that Eric is wanting to Run Q and M - but my truck is nowhere near ready for that, nor will it likely ever be! Haha...

I'm more of an overland type person than a hardcore rock crawler anyways.

Either day you decide to come, it's going to be a great group of people and fun to be had by all.

any idea what time this starts on Sunday??????
ohh and by the way for everyone, in Paragon you must have some sort of flag, a whip, firstick, or other. Get one before you go, they are a little pricey there, because everyone forgets. Most guys just put a flag around the top of the antenna.

do you get the orange flag up there, or is a generic orange flag good enough?

I've only been there on a quad, and I didnt have one, but I bought one there. I think if you put an orange flag on the antennae you should be good. Ive never been up there with my truck, so I'm not 100% sure.

You can buy one there, but I've seen people running around with Bell Bicycle flags....as long as its an orange flag at least 1 foot above the roof (per policy, but if they can see it from all sides of the truck on level ground they wont complain), you're good.
