Ice over muck = stuck - wheelin in WI
Did a little WI wheelin this weekend with my brother and neighbor. Weather was perfect - mid 30s and some sun. The location was great - west-central WI near Bloomer. Lots of hills and woods.
Cast of characters:
Jon aka Fishbiat (my brother) driving his 1997 Suzuki Sidekick Sport. 2” lift on all-terrain tires. Rear locker. Front and rear winches in custom bumpers.
Frank (my neighbor). 2003 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. Sporting 3” lift on 33s.
Jay aka Transalper. 1997 Toyota 4runner. Locked and lifted on 32s.
Bodin aka the Lab. Runnin at full speed all the time.
Most of the trails were easy, but there were a few obstacles we played around on. I tried this one going backwards:
Wheeling this time of year can be easy or challenging. If the ground is frozen, all the mud holes are walkable. Lot’s of snow can make simple trails impassable. If there’s snow over un-frozen ground, all the the bottomless mud pits are hidden. Then there are times when it looks frozen but really isn’t. That one-inch of ice over muck got me this time:
It didn’t look like mud when I started going across it. I got stuck on the way through it the second time. It was an easy winch out.
I just hope we get a ton of snow soon.

Looks good.
I am in school right now, but next time you head up that way and could use another rig, drop me a line. I am 3 or so hours from Eau Claire and such.
Where in Minnesota are you located?
