Yup... brand new FJ. We assumed it was stolen and then intentionally burned. There was nothing left. Beautiful 4.0 motor and tranny all shot to heck and melted. Even the wheels were just hardened pools of molten metal.

Its an easily accessible area from Phoenix so it sees a lot of shooters, partiers, vandals, trash dumping, 4x4ers etc. Not that shooters and 4x4ers are bad, but it just sees a lot of use. Enough of it bad use. The area reminds me too much of the areas around some towns in Mexico where its a free for all dumping wise.

I'll be there now for sure. I'll be flying back in from Dallas on Friday,so I'll just stay the night somewhere.

Hey, would that area make for some good night wheeling?

Sure would! It might be cool up on the top to see at night. I will likely be camping out there. There may be a couple of others camping. maybe we can do an easy night run.

That is disgusting. Rolls / Butcher Jones was bad too, but I think 4 Peaks looks much worse judging by your pics.

Planning to bring the F350 & hopefully the dump trailer. Don't be hatin' on my work truck this weekend y'all.

A couple of updates!

www.goodgun.org has donated some money to the cause as a giveaway! As well as some members coming to help. I'm excited to see responsible shooters step up.

Oakley has given some sun glasses to give away.

The Tacoma Territory, Xterra Owners Club , Copper state cruisers, and Virtual Jeep Club have stepped up to make it an official run of theirs!

The Copper State Cruisers have stepped up with a giant grill that can cook 80 burgers at a time! YIKES thats a lot of cow. mmmm!

Some folks are bringing a rake if they can. Its not a neccessity, but it will help with the shells and glass being picked up!

The Forest Service is going to bring a couple of Roll Off Dumpsters too!

Tim

Thanks Elvota!
It's the people. If it wasn't for getting such a great reaction from every single person I talk to it wouldn't happen. The offroad community rocks.
Thank you for donating the time and effort on that Map!

dlbrunner, Thankfully we'll have the forest service dump truck making runs during the day too. It's going to be a lot of trash! I wonder how much money that would be in scrap metal...

Actually, scrap metal prices are going through the roof due to export stuff and construction steel demand, etc. Hmm.... Could we make this work for us somehow?

There is going to be 4 or 5 guys with trailers out there too. The FS will be using their dump truck to make runs to the dump. If we collect too much its a problem I would love to have!

I offered it up to a couple of folks. It may be nice to get an ammo manufacturer involved in the future!

REI www.rei.com is going to donate some Clif bars for the volunteers. I love those things!

Total Chaos Fabrication. www.chaosfab.com Has stepped up with some give-away items. We'll have some bad ass DVD's from them!

I went by www.raceroffroad.com today and picked up the gift certificates! Some folks are going to be stoked to win these!

I have seen a place down on Broadway by all the salvage yards that has a line down the street on weekends.

Maybe the trash could be divided as such? Probably not the point of the clean up, but might be worth looking into.

I think that recycling could be good!

If anything, the proceeds could be donated to a good cause

why not. one man's trash is another man's treasure.

More info on the Friday night camp-out! Let's cook, drink(over 21 of course), drink sodas, and have a good time!!!

I'll bring a dutch oven, maybe for a little prime rib action....

Yep those scrap yards take in a lot of metal. The problem with it is that most of that metal is "clean." Not a rusted old washer/dryer. If we do get a ton of brass shells it might be nice to see if a group could come and get them.

Sounds good to me! I could use the help putting up some caution tape at the clean up site. It won't "keep" shooters away, but will encourage them to not use those spots for one day while we clean.
