You sure you're not thinking Crystal Mountain? I know you like that trail but didn't think you liked Middle st. vrain as much - kind of an easy trail - but fun and scenic none the less...

Do you have a preference on day? how about Digger?

Can we go on Sunday? I can't make Saturday. Oh and i spoke with the Forest service yesterday, and the water crossing on Coney is completely submerging 35 inch tires (or so they claim) Needless to say, i won't be crossing the creek.

Hmm - that's pretty deep. Here's a trip report from a week ago - the 1 jeep grand cherokee is on 31's and made it through fine. We can always send in my Golden Retriever to test the depth.

Well, that still may be too deep for me, but that's certainly not as deep as the lady said at the FS office. If some one with a winch goes accross first, i'll deff give it a try.

PS how does sunday sound to everyone?

I really wan't to make this one, 'cuz it's over a year now since I've run with Digger and Travis. BUT, I really, REALLY need to pull my rear diff and re-FIPG it. Been putin' up with this leak for too long now, been out every weekend since late Mar and comes a time when ya just got to take a weekend off to get-er-done. Any way I'll follow this thread, who knows might do it Fri night and be done with it.

what is "re-FIPG" it? You could do it sat. too. I think we're now leaning toward Sunday since that seems fine with most people and would accomidate axleike.

ok we can use our Golden as a water depth gauge. I found a clip of him in the water crossing last year when we ran the trail. He's in the middle of the pond and look like he's walking around - so if we get up there and he's gotta swim - it might be too deep! Heres the clip...

FIPG=Form In Place Gasket, AKA Monkey snot, Blue goo, Pematex. Broke the seal, between the 3rd and axle housing, when I was having some of the same actuator problems you encountered awhile back. Cleaned her up, rewired and installed a skid plate for the actuator but never got 'er to seal up good. Time has come to pull the 3rd and get it sealed real good. I'll see what I can do about making it on Sun.

Ok, Let's make it official.

Day: Sunday, July 10th
Time: 10:00 a.m
Trail: Middle St. Vrain & Coney Flats
Where: Meet at Trailhead Parking lot (at west end of Camp Dick)
CB: Channel 4
Misc: Bring a Lunch and Camera!

Trail Decriptions: You can fin them on this page: http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php

Directions: There are directions on the trail descriptions on that page. However I'm going to go this way for a change to see if it's faster:

1. Take ramp onto I-25 NORTH toward CHEYENNE - go 23.0 mi
2. Take exit #243 toward LYONS/LONGMONT - go 0.3 mi
3. Turn on CO-66 - go 4.0 mi
4. CO-66 becomes UTE HWY[CO-66] - go 11.3 mi
5. UTE HWY becomes MAIN ST - go 0.5 mi
6. Arrive at the center of LYONS, CO

then From Lyons, take Colorado Highway 7 for 12 miles to Colorado 72, then south for 4 miles to peacful Valley and Camp Dick

I'd say it's about a 1.5 hour drive from Denver to trailhead.

The trailhead is at the backend of the campground - there is a dirt parking lot there - where we'll meet.

John

ok, if any of you want to meet us in town rather than at the trailhead. Let's meet about 8:30am at the Diamond Shamrock / Dicount Tire Parking Lot at I-25 and 120th. Basically take the 120th exit east 1 block (then left at 1st stoplight) - there is a Diamond Shamrock and Discount Tire Store parking lot we can meet in.

Let me know who will meet us there so I know who to expect (and wait for if need be)
