CO4RJ Update/Cry for Help

The event is still on.

I have changed employment, moved and found a little bit better slice of myself in the last 2 weeks. This has put me behind.

Brian will not be coming and he is who I was relying on for scenic trail guidance. As a result, I am looking for leaders and trail suggestions for the scenic trails.

At this point, the big rock trail drivers and attenders are all people I know or have met. I need to hear from the rest of the people who are coming for trail balance and camping arrangements.

I will have net at my new place on Friday, so expect more then.

As per Jeff's latest trip to Chalk Creek, they are cracking down on dogs in the group site. Just a heads up for those who might be impacted.

Thanks.

The Isuzu group stayed at the exact same group site this last weekend as we will be staying at. When they talked to the campground a few months prior, the campground hosts said dogs are OK to stay in that site, but when they arrived, the campground said dogs are no longer allowed in the group site.

I'm confused on whether dogs are OK in other sites at that campground, though. You might give the campground a call and find out directly from them. If they say it's OK, then I recommend you document their name and what was said in the phone call, otherwise they won't believe you later.

For the Isuzu group one person parked a pop-up trailer in the group site parking, which initially they said was OK, but later the campground changed their mind about that too. So pop-ups need their own individual camp site and cannot be parked in the group site parking area.

Overall the relationship between both the Isuzu and 4Runner groups are good with the campground. It seems other groups have somehow messed up, so they are less lenient about some things. We really don't know why.

We do need to be careful to heed the 10pm quiet time and also where our group's vehicles park (i.e. not in front of other camp sites).

Yup - just called - no dogs allowed in the group site. Throws a big wrench in our plans.

EDIT: I called the lady (Joan) again and begged her and promised we'll keep our dog on leash all the time (which we always do in camp anyway) So she said it was ok. So Djembe(or golden retriever) has a pass.

Hi Adrian, I've never been up Wheeler but I'd be willing to lead a group up there if you can't find anyone else that knows the trail to do it. It's in my Wells trail guide and I've never had any problem following Wells' instructions before. That is Saturday right? I got a winch, 2 lockers and good CB. Let me know, We will be coming in to the camp ground Fri afternoon.
