Spankidy, spank, spank, spank.....................
Steve:
Sorry for the delayed reply.
2.7L 5 speed first gear transmission ratio: 3.954
Chain driven transfer case: 2.566
Marlin Crawler box: 4.70
Ring and Pinion: 5.29
3.954 x 2.566 x 4.70 x 5.29 = 252:1
Travis
One thing I am not, and that's a superstar. I built the truck up so it will run hard trails with no damage. My 4Runner is by far the "Show Truck" of the group and it's probably in the best shape by far of all the vehicle that do run these types of trails. So if you or your entire family need a ride in the crumpet mobile, feel free to climb in. Don't expect any loud bangs Like Jeff the Impaler or me to try that "crazy" line Steve Hunt just did. It's just a little base model that putted along and made it through, now roll that window down with the crank.
Colorado trails are indeed hard, Arizona trails are hard as well. California has some nice ones too.
But.......... Arizona's Trails Are The Most Kick Ass !!!

It's sure nice on the wallet to have a little $5000 turd that will run with the $30,000+ show trucks.... and not get stuck, ever.
My pics are probably waiting for me now, I'll try to get them up tonight.

Keep in mind that lots of our trails were built 120 years ago for mule drawn wagons. Short Jeeps have about the same wheelbase as those wagons, but the wagons were narrower and the roads were maintained back then. It takes a lot guts to drive anything but an ATV on them now.
Props to everyone for having the guts to actually come out and drive with us.

Lance, Darren and Mike from Oregon all have Rockware bumpers.
Jerry spoke highly of the Arizona crew, interesting they met up and then we met up.
I am curious and slightly saddened that more pics have not come up. Mine should be done tomorrow, but I need to re-up my Monty Pics before they can be seen.

), but we made it back okay. I am looking forward to having Steve yelling at me to "SLOW DOWN" again. This trip was a great learning experience and helped me realize where I need to focus my efforts on building up the 4Runner. I have got to find a reputable place near here to get new gears and a locker installed. The '01-02 ActiveTrac system is okay but it definately doesn't replace an actual rear locker.
RT: I picked up my rear bumper from Rockware prior to the start of the Jamboree. I had it made this past May; the same time Darren's was done. It was killing me having that thing sitting there that long.

All you "really" need is a rear ARB, gears would be really really nice, but then your getting into the big money.
Heres the part number your after:
Upper Ball Joint Boot: 43324-39015

I will be going ARB because I am a little uncomfortable doing the housing mods needed to retrofit the e-locker. I was planning on doing the rear only but I will check on the front as the time gets closer.
Thanks for the part number. I was just going to e-mail you about that. Good news is my ball joint boot is not leaking grease anymore. Bad news is it is probably empty.

I'm suprised there was this much stuff busted. Where did all of this happen? Was it the wet bitch rock on Chinaman's, Iron Chest, Wheeler Lake? I don't hear any of the easy and moderate riders reporting dammage.
Maybe i'll spend the weekend running all of these trails cleanly so we can decide if its more driver or truck. I'm thinking this proves that its 90% driver 10% truck.
I meant to get all those dents on my right side. I'm not calling them dents anymore, they are theft deterents, low tech security system.
At least I didn't get any new ones up there.
Edit: I guess I shoulda put that on the What Broke thread.
My scanner is on vacation. I haven't got anything to show yet pic wise. I can mail physical prints to somone that can scan them. I had doubles made. Any volunteers?

I finally got all of my pics online in my Webshots Album , listed according to trail. I didn't get many from from the Taylor Pass run, not sure what happened...
Several good ones from the other runs, though. You all can download whatever you wish from there, or I can email.
Cheers,

Hi Everybody,
I finally have my web site all spiffed up for public consumption, I put 330 photos from Colorado on my web site. There's photos from Holy Cross, Wheeler Lake, Chinaman's Gulch, and from Carnage Canyon on Sunday with the really big toys. Enjoy!!!

Nah, that orange blazer is my friend's, whose name is coincidentally also Michael. His web page is http://www.fuzzypixels.com/ That blazer is quite a beast, but it's barely roadworthy these days.

Michael
