CO: San Juan high roads: a mountain gallery (dial-up caution)

Verrrry nice, Darren, as usual. I'm mildly surprised you could get that high this early in the year. How does it compare with any previous trips you've taken before July 4th?
I'm going to keep in touch so you can show me all the good spots next time I'm in Colorado exploring.
Keep up the good work.
Mick

Mark, I have sent one update to Bushducks thus far. Didn't really feel obligated with the San Juan trails as they are pretty well documented on other sites, though I did add them for the heck of it on 4x4Colorado.com. That site will blow away Bushducks once most folks know about it. It pretty much already does now with all the updates we've had on it.
Scott, no scary sections at all. The roads were basically dry, save for some trickling snowmelt running across the road at times.
Mick, this was an average snowfall year for that part of the state, and the roads there always open at this time after similar winters. However, these are plowed unlike many other high roads which are left to thaw out naturally. These roads are also more popular than any of the others and there is a high concentration of them, therefore probably factoring into some of the tourism dollars that flow through. So, all things considered, it is justifiable to have them cleared. Definitely keep in touch. I'd be more than happy to show you what's out there, schedules permitting. I showed Ric (above) around a bit when he came out last summer and he almost didn't leave!
