Arizona - BTG Rockcrawler "Everyone Welcome" annual run Feb 7-8, 2004

This is always a fun trip. We run from Hy. 87 to Bartlett lake on the Log Corral trail and camp on the East side of Bartlett lake. For those of you who have never run it, The Log corral trail is a designated Jeep trail though a scenic National Forest canyon and up of over a saddle that can be fun and challenging for a near stock rig. The lake is always low this time of year, making for some awsome rock crawling and sand duning once we get there. Saturday night bonfire will be huge as usual. All levels of wheelers are welcome, and there is usually a group that makes the day trip, leaving Saturday evening if February camping or campfire antics aren't your thing.

We will meet at the mall parking lot (Arby's) on the south side of Shea Blvd. just before Hy. 87 at 9:00 a.m.

This is by far one of the best runs all year, I think I have told everyone but if I missed anyone your more than welcome to come on out. Myself and my Wife as well as Vern Smith the Master Toyota Mechanic at Toy Specialists will be there for sure.

We will be testing the Sonoran Steel 63" Chevy rear spring kit. I have built the ultimate shackle from hell.

Make sure you read it right and don't end up at the local dump.

GOT THAT RIGHT!

This may help
Datum conversions

Arbys 17224 E Shea Blvd Fountain Hills, AZ 85268-6631 480 837-4999
In converting the datum I come up with-
latitude=33.56921
longitude=-111.7097
Mapquest

Everyone had a great time.................

Jay exploded an outter Toyota knuckle.
Dutch got his Ford in a ditch that required 30,000 pounds (3-9500 Warns and him driving) of winching
A Ford Ranger hub exploded on the first obsticle.
The guy who now has Zag's old frame rollled on the way out and destroyed the Toyota IFS steering box, I winched him back over.
PMurf1 used me for an anchor, but I got impatient and shifted both cases to low and literally ripped him out, oops. The party girl has some Hommo Burrito carnage.
I got my first body damage in Vern's truck.

Funny thing is that the 3rd Gen 4Runners had no issues. The trail has become alot harder than last year. In June 2003 the trail was challenging, Now in Feb. 2004 it is downright hard.

It was a great trip !!!!!!!!

Had I seen this thread before the trip, I would have gone.

VERN SMITH? I know VERN SMITH.

I've been to his shop a few times before.

I've talked to his wife and son, who is the manager, as well.

I even told his son about this site and told him to make sure he checked it out.

Anyone from this forum go?

Pity I just saw this thread!

Yes Vern Smith. I designed and built an awsome 63" Chevy spring setup for his 92 Mini. That sucker flexed out way further than my 4Runner.

Nobody (Mark) from Las Vegas was there as well.

Did you really?

I never noticed. You can't even tell by just looking at it. It looks like a regular truck.

He's not SAS'd, is he?

Is he running lockers?

Indeed.

The last time I stopped at his shop was last NOV.

I'm sure he remembers me, if not, he'll remember my buddy for sure.

No, they still made fun of me and said I should sell it and build a buggy.

My guess is it is only a matter of time. Your truck has been "done" for a couple years now but it seems things keep happening to it.
