Hello all, I am searching for a Toyota Pick-Up truck for my GF. Today, I test drove this:

A 1992 reg cab short bed (I think) truck. 2.4L 4cyl Automatic. It starts and runs perfectly. No hesitation, no smoke, no smells, smooth idle, not even a leak...anywhere. Aside from the cosmetics it seems good to go (A/C belt is removed so I suspect bad compressor) The one REAL issue it has that I will soon have to correct is the speedometer. It does nothing. Or, at least while driving. The odometer is also static. The gear indicator is also non operational (no big deal) The only time the speedo moves is when the truck is shifted from drive to park. It jumps up to about 20 MPH, then falls again in under a second. Does anyone have any input for me as to how I could correct this problem? I saw no check engine lights and she lowered her asking price to $2000 flat. Thanks in advance for ll your help. And it's great to be back!

OK...I got her down to $1900. Looks like I'm buying it in a few hours.
