looking to buy a used truck, seeking advice:

Hello,

This will most likely be a little long-winded, I live in Southeast Tennessee and have a small guttering and tree service business. I own an F-450 dually with a dump bed, but seeing as how 85+% of the jobs I do don't require the capacity or towing ability of the diesel F-450, I
feel like I'd be wise to own a more efficient, smaller truck to move myself and up to 2 others, up to 4 ladders and varying amounts of material around. I've
owned a 93' 2WD 4-cyl Nissan Pickup before and used it for similar work tasks to good effect. I own a Kawasaki KLR 650 (dual sport motorcycle) as well which I
try to use as much as possible for simple personal transport, such as driving to look at jobs. Because of the fuel-consumption off-setting force of my bike and
the fact that I own a 16-foot utility trailer (and may soon buy a medium-sized wood chipper), I don't want to be too cheap (thinking fuel economy) and so am
thinking that a 6-cyl might be a wiser long-term multi-function truck...I'd kind of like the truck I buy to be able to step in and help me finish a job and keep
me working if something were to ever happen to the F-450 to put it on the sidelines for a period of time.....
My primary questions are (and please do ask more questions of me if more information is needed AND please direct me previous posts that may have already
answered some of these questions):

1) In general why Toyota over Nissan?
2) What years/models to seek out? which to avoid? and why? Among the good
models/years, what do I still need to watch out/inspect for (or be prepared to
deal with at some point)? What kind of a mileage cap would you set for a used
truck purchase?
3) What's the approximate mpg difference between 4 and 6-cyl?
4) Are there any members on the site here using a Toyota truck in a tree work
business?

Yesterday, I went and looked at and drove (to good effect) a 91' 1-ton 3.0 V6 Toyota pickup with roughly a 7-foot bed, manual transmission with 130K miles
($2600 OBO). The paint and cosmetics were a bit on the rough side, but I could live with that fairly easily as I'm kind of rough on my toys; seemed like a
reasonable price, what do y'all think?
Thanks in advance; look forward to reading your replies.

Jon
