88 4runner $3000

I made contact with a seller of an sr5 with rebuilt 3.0 and 5 speed plus other new things. From the pictures he sent me, it looks great. The price seems fair. He also has a 3.4 and matching 5 speed with the wire harness, but wants me to make an offer on the engine and tranny either separately or together. He will trade my 95 tacoma for the 4runner but not the 3.4 etc.
The motor is new from the factory, he picked it up at his local college.
What should I offer for motor and tranny or just motor?
Thanks.

I wouldnt know a fair price for the 3.4 drive train. I dont know about the 3.4 swap, but even at a great deal for the motor, doing the swap, the wiring harness and what else is needed will eat up that great deal on the motor and tranny. If he wanted too much for it, with a little patience, you could probably find a wreck and get the whole truck as that way you have everything that you are going to need. Pieceing a 3.4 swap together can get expensive quick. Might could find a whole wreck for what he wants for the the drivetrain he has.

Good point. I can probably sell my truck for more than $3000. Thanks.
