2008 Sequoia - Good deal?
Haven't posted in a while but would like to get some input from everyone here.
I'm in the market for a new body style Sequoia in the Limited trim model. I've found one that I'm really interested in and want to see if others think it is a pretty good deal or not. I've been looking for about 6-9 months and this is closer to the lower end for cost with also the mileage.
It's a 2008 Limited Sequoia 2wd, 5.7 liter engine with about 46K miles. Guy is the second owner and it was originally a lease vehicle. He has had it for about a year and only put about 10k miles on it. Maintenance was done at the dealer and tires have about 11K on them. It is certified vehicle through 2015 or 100K miles, for the power train. It also has an extend warranty that goes to 2015 or 100K miles. Additional things it has are navigation and rear seat DVD player (this will come in handy for my two young kids, possible a third). Carfax comes clean and no issues. I am planning to check out the vehicle this weekend, since it is a two hour drive.
So he was asking $34,495 and talking to him through email he said $34K with the warranty or 33K without out the extended warranty (says he can return the extend warranty, which I believe might be true, I plan to call the dealer to confirm this, or he can transfer it over to me).
He says the dealer he bought it from will give him $31K and $1.5K (total of $32.5K) if he sells it back to them.
So what do you guys think, $34K a good deal for this 2008?
Thanks in advance for your input.

for a limited, I would say that's decent being a former rental or lease; what does KBB put it at?
My 60k toyota warranty expired about two weeks after I rolled it off the lot; bought mine at 58k miles. She's solid though.
Sounds like you've been shopping for a bit as we did; we knew what we wanted and when we found it, the dealer had it right at blue book dead on so we took it.
You going with 2wd for the better mileage? just curious.
Also, does it have the air springs in the rear? can't remember if those are standard on limited or just the platinums; they're worth about $1600 I think if I remember correctly.

Thanks aa1911. KBB puts it around $35-36k in excellent condition and about $34 in good condition.
Would prefer 2wd, since I rarely use 4WD, and yes to save gas as well.
Yup been keeping an eye on them since last October, got a good tax return to use as a down so I'm ready to buy just holding out for a good deal.
Air springs? Is that for easier loading or to level out the rear if there is full of people or cargo?
Curious what year and model did you get and and issues with it?
I've been researching 2010 SR5 models and starting to like all the standard features on the, which it came in leather which I think is the only think I would want extra. Going to check one out in a few mins, hopefully it looks good so I can compare to the guys 2008 Limited.
Thanks again for your input.

they're certainly not cheap! Couldn't believe how much the new platinums are going for, like $65-70k +, insane. I could buy a rocket and go to space for that price!
The air springs are the 'luxury ride', they're just there in place of the standard coil spring in the IRS. I'm guessing they might be capable of doing some mild leveling but not sure if that's what was in mind, have not seen them in person yet.
My rear coils are only about 9" tall or so and about that big in diameter, pretty awkward but it rides nice. I have an '08 but in 4wd/SR5 and all the fixin's.
loaded her down FULL for our vacation earlier this month and she still rode beautiful and pulled up the passes easy as could be, and no noticeable droop front or rear. The bumper I put on has caused about 3/4" of droop max so far, closer to 1/2" I think. The air springs are just supposedly nicer for ride quality...
crap, I've been staring in disbelief at the 2012 4runners, crickey! they're bigger than the 1st gen Sequoias are.

The 2010 SR5, wasn't certified, was advertised on the Toyota website, but was actually at a sister dealer, Chevy, and engine idled a little weird. Really didn't want it so I low balled them but they wanted to keep negotiating, even after telling them 3-4 times if the price isn't possible let me know so I don't waste your time. keep going for 30-45mins until I realized how long it was taking. Oh well.

Ya the Runners are getting bigger and bigger, I've read the Tacos (which if Im not mistaken is the same platform as the Runners) and as wide as the old T100s, just not as long.
My local Toyota should have a couple 2010's ready for me to checkout this week. Hopefully soon so I can decide if I want one of these or go after the 08 limited. I'm hoping the owner of the 08 limited gets back to me in the next couple days saying if I want it for $32.5K. Crossing my fingers.

So i tried to buy the Sequoia from the guy but it fell through, I was told the tags were paid in an email on June 20th but when I asked again he did not have the tags 8 days later. They were paid a few days or a day before going to the credit union to get the loan going. The guy and his fried who were was helping him try to sell it were douche bags so I didn't buy the vehicle. So on June 30th I went to a dealer about 75 mins away and ended up with a Slate Blue limited Sequoia with just over 33K miles and certified for $33,200. This was a way better deal since I got it with lower miles, floor mats, and the interior and exterior reconditioned, and the best part was I didn't give my money to a couple douches.
Thanks everyone for your input and advice, I greatly appreciate it.
