1998 4Runner Feeler
Hello all,
Looking for some advice and kind of a feeler. I recently loaned my friend my truck to drive to work in bad weather. Long story short she was in an accident and the insurance company wants to total loss it. I am considering buying the truck back from insurance and then selling it. I don't really want to part it out as I don't have the time to dismantle it. Looking for advice as to whether or not it will be worth it to buy back.
Here are the pics and details: 1998 4Runner SR5, V6 3.4 automatic, 4x4 with 146700 miles, moonroof, pioneer CD and remote start/alarm. http://s21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...ile%20Uploads/
She was in an accident where she fish tailed sideways and an oncoming vehicle T-bones the drivers side rear tire/wheel well (both veihicles were going approx. 25-30mph. When the vehicles T-boned it spun the truck around and it hit one of those construction zone barrels.
Here is what I know. The vehicle was total lossed because the driver's side lower control arm ripped off the mounting bracket. Because the bracket is welded on the frame the dealer said they can't replace and would have to order a new frame. I personally think any reputable fab shop can fix this. All damage that I know of:
Driver's side lower control arm mount, drive shaft separated when axle shifted, driver's side turn signal and quarter panel, minor damage to other driver's side panels. Not knowing a great deal I would probably just replace the rear axel and drive shaft.
Prior to the accident the engine and transmission ran great which is why I am even considering buying the truck back.
I am in Hagerstown, MD. Any interest in this truck? Price TBD pending insurance negotiations.
