Tire size revisited...

Couldn't find anything specific here...Can I fit 295/75R17 with a 2 1/2 or 3 " lift? I've read about the body mount modification, is this a good idea in order to fit larger tires?
Thanks
(my FJ is on order, time to retire the 'Runner)

With a 3" lift, and the body mounts trimmed you should be fine. Micrad, on the FJCruiser Forums is running 295 Toyo's on his and seems to be fine.

The front body mounts used on the FJ are from a different Toyota Vehicle (Rav 4) or something. They are bigger than what they need to be, so people are trimming them to eliminate tire rub when running bigger tires.

Spacer/ spring lift provide no room for larger tires on these rigs, none. They provide a increased ride height, and better control off road. But when offroad the tire compresses to the factory location, so if it would rub now it will rub with the lift. This is why many people who wheel with 285's have a 1-1.5" BL, the BL provides the added clerance.

A 295 is roughly a 34.4" x 11.60 tire.. No that will not fit...

Not sure about 295's but 305/70/17 MT/R's will fit fine with the usual lift setup. Must chop the front body mount ( a good portion ) and that'll be it. I've seen tires as large as 315's on them so go get em!

Good luck!

I was waiting to hear someone say that. I'll be looking into some 35s in the future!

jsut be sure to get the right back spacing on your wheels , im stuck with a set of 18 inch wheels and tires and i am rubbing the upper arm, im not to happy with my usual tire compnay for screwing me like this , but im goingto order a set of wheel spacers until i get new wheels .
