don't suppose the cop had his lights on his cruiser on eh? cause then the camera is supposed to be on, he could have it on tape!

I can not remember if he had his blues on or not, it happened so fast.
That time of morning though you see lots of police cars in the area pulling over drunks, as the huge Muckleshoot Casino is just up the hill.
I have had to dodge a few drunks before on the way into work.

Soon as I hit the water though, it was like everything was in slow motion.
Could not see for a few seconds until the wipers cleared the windshield.

I took a good look at exactly where it was this morning, and you can not really see it until you are almost right up on it.

I am really glad too that Toyota put the breathers for the transfer case and diff up in the engine bay.

Corey I have had the same experience when a huge puddle gathered on a road near my house when a car hit the fire hydrant around the turn. Mine and another truck hit the pool at the same time and everything became a wall of water. I experienced slowmotion feeling too. It seemed to take a long time to slow down enough to be able to look out of the front window. I expected to be hitting stuff or get rearended due to hydroplanning but nothing happened. Luckily no water got into the intake (I have no snorkle).

I believe insurance usually covers this soft of thing if the engine gets hydrolocked.

Snorkel is of course a better solution.

I'm with the others--pics?

3AM? Then even better you were able to keep going. Getting stuck with a hydrolocked engine would be even worse at 3AM than during the daytime.

Does the snorkel form a watertight seal when it attaches? I've seen them on Land Rover LR3s before, have wondered how this works. I suppose the intake system and engine are able to handle a small amount of water even if the fit isn't watertight--the air filter will trap a small amount of water.

Could have been 1 am, but I did not start early that day.

The snorkel is all sealed up water tight.
There a few holes from the factory in both part of the tube you reuse in the engine bay, and also the airfilter box itself.



Safari recommends you seal them, and we did.

Thanks Corey, I have emailed them about once a month, don't get a response from them any more...
They say based on their sales from previous Tacoma snorkels that they won't do one for the '05+ Taco's...over 200 replies to this thread http://www.ttora.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18360 but still no snorkel..

I really need to find one to work on my '81 Trekker but need to finish a few other things on it first...
