I think it's the triple black Special Edition, Moab Edition, or whatever it'll be called. The odd reflection is probably from the fill flash off the door handle and taillight.

I've seen preliminary arrivals by model, and the M/T truck will be in very short supply. Some regions will only get 5%-10%, the rest A/T's loaded to the gills. For my region, that means only about 10 M/T's spread among 71 dealers. I'm rethinking my plan and might just jump on the first M/T I can find in what might become an in-demand color. The M/T will be the only model with the 4Runner drivetrain, center Torsen with locker and RR locker standard, and will cost less than the A/T. I guess the hardcore owners are wanting A/T's, but I think the exclusivity of full-time 4X4 with Torsen will become the most desirable DD FJC, and so greatest resale value. Any thoughts?

is there even a question M/T, center torsen and RR locker standard?

the only question BT is what color?

GA, the hardcore on other forums are nearly unanimous in wanting an A/T. I've read all of their reasoning but still don't understand. Not to mention that the M/T will have something like a 41:1 crawl over the A/T 34:1 or so.

Funny you mention color. I'm in a quandary there. A poll on another site indicates Titanium 2:1 over any other color, but it looks so bland for such a distinctively styled truck. I'm leaning toward Black Cherry Pearl, the only pearl available. It's on a Scion tC, a similar target demographic, and looks amazing especially on a cloudy day like we have so many of here. I'll decide after the Portland Auto Show this weekend where FJC will be on display.

I believe it is, there are a couple pics of the 2 UZJ100 Land Cruisers that were support vehicles on that run, in the current Toyota Trails magazine.

I've seen conflicting things in the media about the cruiser. Does it have BFgoodrich tires or Bridgestones.

I believe the stock tires may be bridgetone duellers, but the optional tires are the BFG A/Ts.

Looking at it again and seeing the curved A-pillar it's obviously a Sienna hammering up the trail.

I looked at the full-sized second down photo under bright light but couldn't tell which tire. I think they brush out the logo. The SE in the works is being developed in cooperation with Goodrich. I hope something decent for the others, but it's a crapshoot on 4Runner, one of four brands possible, with the same size wheel.

I have not seen a price on this yet.
Less than a new Tacoma by chance since it is more of a plain jane rig, or am I dreamin'?

Corey needs a new rig, still have not decided at this point.

I think a base Tacoma 4 cyl. 4X4 with the M/T part-time drivetrain would be at least $6K less, more during an incentive month. But it goes up from there. Way up, as you saw with that DC TRD V-6. Each has something special to offer and are so different that they're hard to compare.

Edit: Pricing and content info here

I truly don't see how the "hardcore" could prefer the AT by any large margin. Or are they hardcore FJ enthusiasts, not hardcore off roaders and drivers....
I don't quite understand why the MTs will have full time 4wd. I would gladly live without that. But never an auto, never never never never. I'm quite glad that traction control and all that stuff is optional too, so I don't have to have it.

I too am in a quandary about color. I don't like any of em. Maybe I'll hold out for tangerine with flames...

Lot's of guys on pirate, including buggies are switching to autos. Unless I have dual tcases or low crawler gears, I'd want an auto.

That is a Landcruiser in the background of the photo, those were taken on the rubicon trail testing.
Heres another view of that pic where you can see the front of the Landcruiser behind the FJ

If you go here: FJ cruser bulletin
You can see the whole story and see video's of it climbin on the trail too.
They put BFG A/T's on for the rubicon run, it says it was the only mod done to the truck.
The 'production' FJ's at the Detroit auto show had pretty tame Bridgestone Duller AT's with out any mention of BFG's being optional.

Here's my pics of the FJ with the ARB bumper & BFG's from the detroit auto show:
FJ Front flexin
FJ side/rear
