charcol filter in intake-near air filter

charcol filter in intake-near air filter
with the charcol filter in the intake before air filter, would using a K&N drop in filter let dirt through the charcol filter? I notice a tremendous performance advantage with the K&N. with this setup, its almost impossible for the MAF to get affected.
