BTF Battery box installed!!!

After runnin with others who had the dual batteries couple of weekends ago..... I am really sold, more so than ever!!!!

Went to Blue Torch Fab and noticed they have their Optima Battery box on special right now for $49.99.....

BTF Optima Battery Box Blue Torch FabWorks, Inc.

OK, Got my battery box. KD7NAC_07FJ made the plate and weld it to the box... And on top of that Powdercoated it for me!!!! I installed it last night, and Pics are on their way.... I brought my camera!!! Please hold!!!

This is what the box looks like

Here is where it's located.

The bolts underneath how the battery box is attached.

This is what Blue Torch Fab is calling it.... I would call it a tray....

http://bluetorchfab.com/store/produc...?products_id=1

And looking at it now, it's no longer on sale.

They claim that this can be mounted anywhere...... Personally, I would want it mounted in my rig!!!!

Wayne has a template and he cuts out and welds it to the box. The one post with the Yellow top in it, that's just the box you get (tray). Then that front lip is actually a front lip the the plate that is welded on. So there are 4 bolts that bolt on to the fender well. The back 2 are HARD to get to!!!!

Chewy, box/tray is on order.

Where are you getting the Optima at?
I have not had any luck here finding the Optima D34/78.
Les Schwab can get them in for around $240, to much.

Plenty on the web that Wayne showed me for around $170, then it hit me.
Lots of audio shops use them for installs.
Called my local Cartoys, and they have one new one left, and it goes for $170, can not pass that up.
That is the same price as the bargain houses on the 'Net.

The regular model D34 is cheaper, but does not have top and side terminals like the D34/78 one does.

What did you do for nuts, bolts, washers?
Stainless steel, and what grade size?

I have a Tacoma Screw on my way into work I can stop at to get all the hardware.

I haven't shopped around very much for the battery. If I find a better deal I will let you know.... I have heard if you get it for about $170, that is about the best deal. Now I have to set up another fuse box and get the wire going to the back for the 12V outlets I bought a West Marine!!!!

You are putting in a 2nd box like Wayne did?
The one in my cab is good enough for me now, but I may add one later.
First I have to see how the snorkel is going to effect the passenger side wheelwell before I add any other stuff in there.

Yes, the price at Cartoys is great.
Leaving in an hour to go pick it up.

Will not stay long there though, as we already worked out a deal for a new amp for 6 new speakers, dual 10s in the rear, and my old RF 500a2 amp to power the subs.
If I start looking at speakers and stuff when I am there, it is liable to be a long day and I may be bumpin' on the way home

That will have to wait for another day.
It is so hard to not look at all that stuff when you go to Cartoys though.
It is like being a kid in a candy store.

Chewey, any update?
My modified battery tray came yesterday from Wayne.

Still need to get the hardware, I have everything else including the wiring and Optima.

I do need to move my battery backup alarm that goes with the main Clifford alarm, and I may have to move the 2nd horn too up front instead of the location on the side fender where it is now.

I like it. I wish I had that much room underneath the hood of my 3rd gen 4runner. One thing I would suggest is flipping the bolts, having the head of the bolt in the wheel well, instead of the threads. Just incase you ever stuff your tire, you won't blow it out. Just my .02 though
