I want to mount some rear facing backup lamps on the factory roof rack. I a have a set of small KC backup lights that should fit nicely between the two roof bars. However, i am not sure how to mount them. On my old Yakima rack i had on the 4runner I made some small clamp type brackets to fit the small (relative) diameter tubes. I had them wired through a 3 position switch, off, on, and auto-on which enabled the lamps with engagement of reverse. Very handy.

I will wait until I have the front lightbar installed so that I can run all the wires at one time.

Side note: Corey, those Lund vent visors you have; I noticed they sell two different types. One with the 3M tape and one that I beleive fits into the window channel? Which do you have and do you prefer one over the other?

Get a small bit of simi heavy steel and cut it to fit the lights then weld them to the bottom of the bar. Once you have them or it welded to the bar you can wire them together and be done with it. OR you can get a light bar like I have and put it on the backside instead of the front or both and mount it then the lights that way.

 

ive seen some people who put fog lamps like the piaa rectangular oval lights on their bumpers. It has quite a nice effect, and they are really bright.

I just used some stainless hose clamps to mount the light brackets to the rack, and then painted them black to match. Ran the wire down inside the rear door chanel into the rear jack storage box where I had installed a feed and marine fuse block and relays.

Sorry it's not a good pict but should give you an idea of how they were mounted.

 

I'd like to mount some topside but I can't do a rack without losing the garage space. I just did the $10 Cabelas hellas off the receiver. Works good, but I know it would be better if they were up top.
