Ash Trays

I kept thinking...... "Something is missing". Then I realized there weren't any ash trays in my FJ. Not that I care as I don't smoke, but I found that really odd!

Many new vehicles are coming that way now.
It is kinda odd, something I guess we thought was a standard feature 4 ever.

Yeah, you have to specify a smoking package for most cars. My 2006 Grand Prix has 3 power outlets but no cigarette lighter or ashtray. I don't smoke much, but I'm still peeved that some engineers at Toyota or GM or Ford or Honda decided to make the decision for us.
I've heard that in some states you can't smoke in the car because of the second hand smoke issue when there are kids onboard....somebody wanna verify that for me?

And realistically, I could never keep my smoking cars from having burn holes in the upholstery, and I hated trying to clean the tar film from the inside of the windshield.
But in an old beat up car (somebody else's car) I would smoke on a road trip like a chimney. Smoking in the car is probably a safety issue, too....drop a cherry in your lap and just try to concentrate on the road...

I noticed that my Tacoma without a camper shell had an odd habit...when you threw a cigarette butt out the rear split window at highway speeds, it would hover around the tailgate in the air, bounce around the bed, and inevitably shoot back into the cab through the same window...lol.
