6-speed drivetrain differences?

6-speed drivetrain differences?
I was looking at a couple of manual transmission FJ Cruisers the other day and noticed that one had the center locking feature and other didn't.
They were both the 6-speed with the RR Diff Lock and A-Trac.
What's the difference/advantage in having the option to use the center locking feature?
