If any members have had a t100 steering relay rod break,there is a class action suit against toyota. If you feel like getting involved or feel the need for compensation pm me and i can give you the law office number. The lawer who called me said he was contacted by the family of an individual who died as a result of the rod failure and the motor company had some knowledge of an isssue and had started the recall in japan but not in the usa at the time of his death. I have a customer whose rod broke way before the recall resulting in crash that totaled the t100. That customer did not have full coverage and never recovered any money out of the t100. The customer contacted toyota of north america and a inspector came out and did a report but as for compensation that would never happen. I am just passing this info along personally toyota is going a long way to help out all the current owners i just wish they would have done a little better 6 years ago when we were seeing many failures

 

Yeah mine broke around 6 years ago. I was lucky and it broke pulling out of a driveway. 10 minutes later and I would have been on the freeway. I still have that same relay rod on my truck. I just welded it and put a gusset on it. Toyota won't replace it until I put my steering back to stock. I modified my idler arm and drilled out the the taper on the relay rod for a bolt instead of the ball joint.

 

Toyota recalled them about 4years ago. i had mine replaced then

 

Replaced last fall on the recall, no questions asked, and they did an awesome job. The recall has been out for awhile, so I wouldn't get my hopes up on a suit. Mine was replaced at 15 years old and 197,000 miles. See if Detroit would even bother lifting a finger in that case. To add to it, I'm running a front locker and oversized tires. They even threw in new tie-rod ends. Not a penny out of my pocket.

 

I would be interested in the information about the law suit. Mine broke about 2 years ago and toyota charged me for the part. I did the installation myself. I am the second owner of the truck and had no knowledge of the recall until after it broke. When I contacted Toyota they said if I had brought it to the dealer they would have replaced it. The nearest Toyota dealer is about 60-70 miles from where I live. It would have had to have been towed after link broke, imagine that tow bill! By the way, the tow charges would not have been picked up by the dealer.
