T100 5spd 4wd vs. 1st gen tundra 4wd 5vzfe 5spd
So I need a all purpose vehicle/work truck.
Needs:
2 Kid car seats in back
Pickup bed for hauling PW equipment and carpentry stuff
4wd and prefer manual tranny
I looked and the curb weights of both seem mostly the same. I have my heart set on a t100 but I really like the access cab ability the tundra has.
Anyone have experience with both? (Hope I put this in correct section. I am using my phone app)

Go with the tundra if you have the choice. Speaking from experience, my sons car seat going into the back is a PITA without an access door. Plus there's more aftermarket support for the tundra. I love my T100, but given the choice, I'd rather have the tundra.
Why so set on the 3.4? I love mine, but the 2UZ 4.7 is also a very strong and reliable motor. Plus the extra weight of a Tundra or T100 kinda pulls the mileage down on a 3.4. I see between 16-18 mpg with 32" Duratracs, 4.10's and a supercharger.

Cant get the stick in the V8.
Find an 03-05 tundra, the v8 got alot more power in 03.
I love my T100, but its underpowered with even 4.30s and 32" tires and the lack of an access door for the x-cab stinks.

Ya, that is the downside to the 4.7 if you ask me. I'd love to try and do a 4.7 with a 5speed. I've heard there's a company out of Australia that makes a conversion bell housing and clutch kit, but I've never looked.

I found a 2000 tundra that might work out on trade for my 98 4runner.
I am at 221k and he is at 231k but had all the recall work done + some.
The only thing that I get Leary about is when I read up on 00-03 tundras OD planetary gears es'plodin. Hence why I was looking at t100's w/ manual trannies. Just simple.
I was reading about AT reman's requiring removal of exhaust manifold then the HD starter then dropping tranny then like $4k bill. F - that.
I dunno. I like the tundras and it would suit my needs best provided everything works. Tacomas,4R, and t100's have been my only experience.

My dad has a 2000 tundra 4.7 automatic. He's never had a problem with it , aside from brakes, but all he uses it for is towing. His is up to 148k. Another contributing thing is that his has the smaller brakes. I would have no qualms about buying up one of those trucks.
