Possible Clutch Issue
Well, I'm assuming this is probably the clutch going bad but, I'm still learning as I go on my truck so I figure I'll see what you guys think. Recently I've been having 2 issues with the clutch that I think could be related. First, the truck will sometimes kick itself out of first gear. It feels like I don't have the shifter all the way forward and when I take my foot off the clutch pedal and start to apply the gas there is a loud bang and the truck kicks in to neutral.
The second issue is that the clutch pedal does not seem to come up enough occasionally to allow the cruise control to engage. If I slip my foot under the pedal and pull up on the pedal the cruise works, when I let it go, it turns off. This doesn't happen all the time but, it's pretty regular.
I'm thinking the clutch is needing replaced. I'm at 499,454 miles right now and the first owner while seemingly took decent care of the truck didn't really replace anything. Most of the stuff I am slowly but, surely replacing is still stock. Any info would be great. Thanks!

It sounds like the shift seat is wore out on for your problem with first gear. The seat falls apart, making gear selection problematic, and it can sometimes cause the truck to pop out of gear. Check out marlin crawler. They make a heavy duty shift seat. Assuming your truck is a v6, it has a R150 5 speed.
Here's the link to the seats.

And here's a link to how to replace it.
