Lifting

Does anyone know how reliable a three inch body lift from rough country is? I'm looking to clear some larger tires and was wondering if it's difficult to put on or if it isn't reliable.

Id say your bordering on it being a bit too much stress on the body mounts. I like 1" lifts the best, 2" is pushing it b/c you have to move the radiator and shround around, extend a bunch of things, etc.

These trucks with the torsion bars raised a bit will fit 32's quite easily.

Agreed with the pita with a three inch kit, put a 2 inch on my old s-10 blazer and it was nothing less than horrible, bumper relocating, shroud dropping, extending grounds etc.

Not fun and it was a 2 inch

Save up and lift it or leave it alone

most kits come with complete hardware for lowering the radiator, raising the bumpers and stuff like that. i found it pretty easy, removing old body bolts was the hardest part. theyre replaced with new so i cut them off with a torch. suspension lifts are better and look better as well but body lifts have their place. the only damage ive seen to a mount was after a crash or hard landing but if your beating your truck that hard then who cares.

"How reliable is a 3'' BL?" Well you can definitely rely on it looking stupid and not doing anything. That seems to be very commonly found with people that do 3'' BL's.
And the name of your thread is wrong, a BL is not a lift. If I stick a pillow under my seat it doesn't mean I have a lift on my truck.

Seriouslly don't go more then a 1 inch BL, there pointless. You'd be better off cutting fenders.

im not a fan of bl myshelf. this statment says your scrapping the old mounts for new extended mounts. bl are only added to a factory mount as a spacer, not replacing anything. different manufacturers use different materials and sizes. id choose a wide spacer over a narrow, and choose poly over aluminum. bl do have a purpose like allowing more space for larger tires while keeping factory ride while keeping the center of gravity low. they look a little silly by exposing more of the frame. they are cheap and can always be removed if you change your mind.

It replaces the bolts and weakens the mounting structure by adding leverage. Especially in the 2"+ BL range. Not all BL's are the same either. Some do replace the factory squishy peice with a hard pos.

3" body lift is just to much for the stock placement of alot of things under the hood, Go 1-2" but a suspension lift would be the best option for sure.
