I just recently bought a t-100 to go jeeping with my dad. I wana take it to the river around here and eventualy to go play on some rocks. I know it has a 3.4 v6 supercharged engine and with a 4 inch lift and a rear air locker. I would like to put a solid front axle and I wana put 35's on it. does any one know where i should start?

 

how about a jeep forum. Another start would to use the search function. Fyi if you use that crap rated term in here I believe you will be banned. And another word of advice, DO NOT paint you truck pink to match your dads jeep. Good luck with the searching

 

well he doesnt have a jeep he as a 87 4 runner hes building up... we use to race motor cross and were just finding something else to get in to . ive been searching but i would like some helpful advice on how to get it trail worthy. its a little bit of a new feild for me.

 

First of all jeeping is not a good term to use on a toyota forum. Second your truck is trail worthy as it is. Unlike a heep, you can wheel the heck out it stock. Same with your dads 4runner. Bumpers and sliders are a good place to start. The best advice is to wheel you truck stock. Learn how it behaves on the trail and then make upgrades based on what you need.

But seriously the search function is very useful on here and you have plenty of reading to catch up on. Basically any question you can think of can be answered by using the search fuction.

 

k thanks I have been taking it out but I know I want a front locker for that it won't climb like I want it to but I was told to put a solid axle up front that away its done. I was also told to look into some half ton leafs for the rear end? Smart?

 

Welcome to yotatech. You got a pretty good start to your rig already. I wish I had lockers and a supercharger. Your truck is already rated as a half ton. did you mean swapping in some chevy springs? I've seen a couple of solid axle swaps done to t100's but unfortunatly there isn't much out there for T100's. Btw, post up some pics if you got em. everyone likes new trucks.

 

Ya sry thats what I meant some one told me chevy half ton springs in the rear will give me more stretch and flex but I can't find some one that knows what to put on the front?

 

BAMF is correct, HEEPS, some call em jeeps, aint got nothin on yoters, heck, i have a 1996 Toyota T100, bone stock, no performance nothin yet, and i have wheeled the out of it, been in mud to the front bumpers, and well, i was tryin to get stuck lol no good, i pulled into the mudhole, took it out of 4wd, and made it out of the crap in 2wd, so yea, i love my toyota, and also my buddy has a 1989 Toyota, 3inch lift, 33's, and i have seen him outclimb jeeps with huge lifts sittin on 36's, we were laughin when they took outta there, heads saggin bout to whine like bbys

 

ya I know they perform well but I still want more I just want it to climb better and I feel that a solid front axle will solve a potential week link but I need to find someone that knows if a 87 4runner axle will fit under the front end? Can any one point me in a direction please!?

 

MX310, i beleive any 4runner axles are to short, as the T100 is wider than a 4runner, the T100 was what some may call "prototype", or the start of toyotas new fullsize, the Tundra,

That's pretty rude. Jeeping is a perfectly aceptible term. I'm not sure if you know but the word Jeep was origionally a generic term for an off road vehicle. Just because it's also a brand name doesn't mean it still can't be used as a generic term.

Stock vs. Stock a Jeep and Toyota are very evenly matched off road. No need to make yourself look stupid by putting Jeeps down. I know plenty of Jeeps that would crawl all over your Toyota. Jeeps are very capable offroad though their weakness is reliability. Its not all about huge lifts and large tires, its about the driver skill. There is no way a stock anything would make it through a real mudhole in 2 wheel drive especially since in 2 wheel drive a stock 4x4 is really only 1 wheel drive.

As for the OP's question, you'd wanna go for a Dana 44 in the front with 35's. And here's a nice lookin SAS'ed t-100:

Thanks for all the help I'm just ready to get my rig back on some trails and I agree with the jeep thing I have friends with jeeps and toyotas and they usually are pretty evenly matched at the end of a day just depends on drive and the trail

 

you can get sway bar disconnects if your not satisfyed with the flex in the front....

 

From my personal experience with my truck, solid axle is overkill if you're not flailing it on rocks the size of a VW Beetle. I'm running 32's, 5.29's, a front Lock-Right, an automatic, no sway bar (it was useless anyway), and no lift, and I can hang on the back of a Rubicon by judicious use of the right pedal. Wheeling with a buddies very similarly modded but lifted Cherokee we found that the T-100 will equal it in most respects and best it in big puddles. With snow up to the frame I spent a lot of time tugging him. I got tugged once on a hill with snow up to the door.

My opinion, run the things the way they are. They are more than capable. If anything, throw an Aussie Locker or Lock-Right up front with some Aisin hubs. The T-100 and the 4Runner should take the same part numbers up front if you wanted to knock them both out of the way in one fell swoop.

 

well I've been trying to run it the way it is but need more clearance for bigger rocks I dont like to follow the guys I go wheeling with kinda like to set the pace with any thing I do so when I get showed up I gotta go bigger or better so I got a Dana and wana go 37's with 5.29 gears but I'm stumped on where to find high steer that will mount up correctly

 

hey does any one know where to find decently cheap 37's? just need some to start wheeling with till i finish getting my sas all finished.
