Hi folks, new T100 owner here - purchased a '97 5VZ with a flatbed and plow for doing my long driveway in the winter and some hauling and construction use in the warmer months. The truck runs really well and and has no issues starting. The back half of the exhaust system was replaced by the previous owner very recently since the old one rusted out. There is a moderate amount of rust on the truck but for the most part is solid. The one issue I've noticed is that there is a fairly strong fuel smell in the cabin when the truck is running -- strong enough that I usually crack the windows a fair bit. So I popped the hood today to see if anything was obvious. Well I noticed that one of the metal pipes leading to the vacuum canister is completely rusted away. Like... gone. It appears that the section it was supposed to connect to is just open to the air near the front corner of the truck, and I'm wondering if that's the way it's supposed to be or if something is amiss. If this is just a vent pipe it would make sense that most of it being missing doesn't impact the operation of the truck at all. But curious if you think this could be the cause of the fuel smell. Here the the pipe section in question circled in red. The center section 77779 is completely rusted away and missing. The blue circled end is mounted to a frame bracket under the front fender and is just open to the air with nothing connected to it. Any insights are appreciated!
