early 96T100 MT evap system
Hi guys/gal,
I just swapped from old 3.0 to early T100 3.4 engine. It has 4 wires from throttle position sensor. I'm having issue with the Evap Monitor System.
At the moment, It said "not available" instead of "not ready" or "ok"
I have the wiring diagram for the auto and manual. The wiring for 96 t100 manual with 4 TPS wires doesn't show vapor pressure sensor. I've wired the 5D which is the evap VSV. I also wired the E2 from wire 4 of MAF.
I have 12 V on FPU ...Is this the fuel pressure unit? or something else?
I can't pass the ref. without the ecu seeing the evap system monitor.

Can someone scan their 95/96 early 3.4 engine with a OBDII scanner to see if the Evap system monitor say "n/a" or "ok" in the I/M ready state.
Thanks.
I can not get mine to say anything else but "n/a"

I've talked to a smog guy near my house as well as the dealer. They told me that in these T100 started to come out in mid 95 about the same time as Tacoma. State of CA doesn't require the Evap Monitor till 96. None of my wiring shows anything about vapor pressure sensor. They think that I still have the old system.
They suggest that I tell the ref that it's a 95 T100 model. There's only a few diag code starting with 4 which has to do with the evap stuff.
It would be great if someone with 95 or early 96 T100 can verify this with the scanner....but I'll go back to the ref. with the 95 T100.

Anthony,
Check out the chart in this Toyota bulletin:
http://www.toyotapart.com/EVAP_SYSTE...T-EG005-01.pdf
It makes it appear that EVAP was not available until '97 on the T-100.

Thanks. I noticed that they talked about DTC P0440. I n the code for 95 3.4 engine, I don't think it even throw that code.
Before the Evap system monitor became available, there isn't a vapor pressure sensor involved. The ECU just release the vapor while the engine is on. On the later model, it actually does it while the engine is off like 7-8 hours later.
I've also found this pdf comparing the difference between 3VZ and 5VZ engine. On page 90, there's a diagram that shows the evep stuff but it doesn't have vapor pressure sensor either.

I think that's the exact version of the evap system I have.

Well, I finally passed the smog referee. I, along with the referee through different sources, found out that the ECU I have also used in 1/2 ton, light duty truck also. By declaring that it's a 95 T100 engine instead of 96, I'm able to pass it.
