Automatic transmission slip

1997 T100 3.4 Auto

A while back I noticed I was low on trans fluid, I ended up putting almost two quarts into it to get it up to the low Hot mark after 25 minutes of driving. Today I was doing some mild wheeling and the transmission started slipping in first gear from a stop after about 15 minutes on the trail. Shifted it into 4lo and the problem seemed to go away (maybe because it was only slipping in first gear, and in low it was in 2nd or 3rd going 10 mph?). But it immediately started doing it again back on the blacktop. I'd be cruising just fine, come up to a stop sign, and it just slips and revs unless I hammered the gas and then it grabbed, chirped the tires, and away I went. Is it possible it is overfull of fluid and it is slipping because of that? or what? No trouble codes or AT temp lights or anything.

Thats weird, typically that's a sign of low fluid. What is the condition of the fluid? black and smelly?

Negative ghost rider, it's the right color (dark pink) and only has a slight smell to it.

I lied about the color, drained the pan and dumped a little less than a gallon of new fluid back in, it was overfilled by 1.5ish quarts. It looked like motor oil...now it's much better. Hopefully it doesn't do that again
