5VZ-FE - Need advice.

Hello there, first post and I'm in need of some advice about the 5VZ-FE I'm working on.

I got myself a 95 Xtracab T100, guy sold it to me with 146,000 and it had white smoke coming out the tailpipe when I got it home.
Then I find out he rolled the odometer, from the Toyota owners website and it says it had 233k in 2013, so its probably got close to 250k now.

Now I have to either do a head gasket job (Both heads are going to be $800 to resurface and remanufacture, then I've got water pump, timing belt and gasket kit and head bolts, the works to do It right)
After it's all said and done, I'm probably looking at $1300-$1400.

The other option is to do a complete engine swap, the engine would be coming from Foreign Engines in Lynnwood Wa.
They run $1595 for a long block, with 1 year unlimited mile warranty.
Since their an import engine, it woild have around 50k
But the drawback is, they won't have an engine until April.

I'm also considering getting an engine from Pick n' Pull.

My question is, if I do the cylinder head repair, approximately how long could the engine I have run, before giving up the ghost?

no way to tell how long it will last, the low mileage engine sounds like the best option.

hard to find 3.4 at pull a part.
tried these guy's? http://www.car-part.com/

What work was going to be done in the $800 head quote? All new valves, etc? That number seems very high.....

As far as mileage and life after repair, as said above there is no way to know. A lot depends on how the engine was maintained over the years. What did the Toyota owners site reveal for maintenance history?

The work on the heads is basically remanufacturing them.

The Toyota owners website doesn't reveal a whole lot, pretty much a brake job and one other none engine related job.
