YIKES. Reversed Polarity on Battery install. HELP.

Howdy Yotatech. I'm not to proud to admit tonight I did something I will forever make fun of myself for. Hopefully I'll be able to laugh about it tommorow night. But until then, I'm stressing and incredibly nervous about the possible repercussions of hooking my battery up + to - and - to positive.

I wrenched at a Dealership for 2 years and this happened a few times in the garage, never by myself, but needless to say this must not be all that uncommon. At least I say that to make myself feel better. Anyhow:

Here's what I've found blown fuse wise underneath my 2008 Tacoma's fuse box next to the battery:
140AMP Alternator Fusible Link (bolted to the fusebox)
10 AMP ETCS fuse
30AMP ABS2 fuse
10AMP RADIO fuse
30AMP TOW fuse

I've noticed I have no power doors/locks. Truck won't crank and radio doesn't work.

Just thought I would let you all know. What is the best way to remove those big bolted in Fusible links like the 140AMP Alt fuse. I know there bolted in somehow.

THANKS SO MUCH. I'm not gonna beable to sleep tonight

The big fuses are usually bolted in from the side of the fuse. Good Luck. I have dealt with a few cars towed in at work with the same situation. The worst part is when the customer removes fuses or relays and fails to tell you they did that.

You probably popped some of the "circuit breakers" too if your Taco has any of those... I'd check all the fuses and CBs... but I don't think you can have done much damage otherwise...

I got her up and running again. Blew up my CB amplifier but the radio survived. My truck is fine.

Thanks for the help guys. If this ever happens to anyone on the site have them pm me, as I now know how to split appart the fusebox (PITA) and unbolt the big fusible links etc etc. Took almost 2 hours to tear apart and put back together!!
