Where is transmission harness?

I am working on multiple electrical issues with a 1986 Toyota 4x4. It started as EFI, but now has a carb. One of the previous owners must have dropped the tranny and I can't find the harness that goes to the reverse light switch or 4wd indicator. (5sp manual by the way)

The 4wd indicator switch has about 6in of wire attached to it and the reverse switch still has the female harness on it.

Where should the harness be that they should attach to? How do they get in to the cab?

Thanks! Jay

Both harnesses are part of the main engine harness and branch off the engine harness at the back of the engine when the harness makes a 90 degree turn to go under the EFI intake manifold. Now that your truck is a carb and not EFI and if the wiring for the EFI was stripped out you are probably SOL!

The good news is that the harness is still there. It is just hacked up about a foot from the firewall on the passenger side.

I just need to know what color the wires are from the connectors under the intake manifold as they follow the harness up. I probably have 20 cut wires up there.

Can someone take a look at theirs and let me know, please?

Backup lights are fed from the 15A. engine fuse. Feed is a red wire which goes to pin #9 of connector N3 (10 pin conector) under the right kick panel. This connects the cowl harness to the engine harness. From this connector it goes to the backup lt sw. in the transmission. Return from the transmission is a red/blue back to pin # 2 of N3. It leaves N3 as a red/blue, but splices to a red/black in the rear harness before the back up lts..

4Wd lt. feed is a red/yellow from the combination meter to connector Pin #1 of N3, but it leaves N3 as a light green wire and runs to the 4wd. switch in the transfer case. Dependong on the type of switch you have there may be a white/black wire that goes to ground back where your wires are cut, or your truck may ground through the transfer case.

Easiest way to trace these out is with a volt/ohm meter and do continuity checks
