I bought this 4Runner from a guy who had torn it apart to do some stuff to it, and he wasn't exactly the most careful person in the world. So I've been having fun putting it back together. Can anyone tell me what the wires on top of the hood release are for? Picture below:

 

Those aren't factory, so they probably went to stereo wiring or exterior lights. Those are the usual culprits. Maybe an alarm that is or isn't still there?

 

They just dead end into the engine bay, so I guess I'm safe to take them out. Thanks for the help.
