Starting problem when truck is warm

Ok so I am at the end of my ideas... when my 89 4runner is warm it will not start with the key 50% of the time. I have put a new starter, ignition switch and starter relay. It still has the same problem. When it will not start at the key I can leave the key on, short the remote wire from the starter to 12 volts and it will start that way.... help! what is the problem???

A relay will clear this up. Get a 12V relay that can handle at least 30A. Take the small activation wire that runs to the starter and hook that to the activation tab of the relay. Run a wire from the ground tab to a ground point. Take a couple of lengths of 12 to 16 gauge wire and run one directly from the battery to the input tab of the relay. Run the other from the output tab of the relay to the tab on the starter where the activation wire was attached. You're good to go now.

Did this end up working? I'm having the same problem on my '89 pickup. And what would be causing this?
