Speaker questions
Hello all, i jsut got myself a 1993 4runner. im totaly stoaked with it so far. when i got it i noticed that the left front speaker was blown and that the rear ones were not working. after searching the site i came up with some possible answers but nothing clear. if i dont have any speakers in the rear is there an easyer way than taking the whole panel off? if not how do i get the rear panels off to get at those speakers? i also read about power antenas. ive never notived mine go up or down ( even with the stock deck) im jsut wondering if maybe the intalers messed somthing up. thanks for the help

If it is the stock antenna, likely it has it's own up/down switch and not automatic with the radio. If you can hear the motor run but the antenna does not work, might need to repair the antenna:

No idea on the panels, I have a 1st gen. But for the sizes, try http://www.crutchfield.com/ and look up what fits and go from there. I found my front 1st gen speakers are "4T" and was able to fit a regular 4" speaker in there with a little modification.

I got mine with an aftermarket radio already. I ended tearing off the antenna wheeling. The motor still works fine and I still get reception on the radio so i never replaced it. i do have another antenna but I decided not to install it so that one would break. What I'd like to find or put on is the flexy kind.
As far as speakers goes thats a great call. I'm not sure if my rear ones are blown or what I can't hear em to save my life. I ended up building a custom box for a 10" sub that I have behind the drivers side seat I'll post some pics once I get it back from surgery. Also, I just got Kicker 4" fronts from http://etronics.com They have great prices on their items and ship fast. I plan on putting the Kickers in the front(you do have to remove the panel) and leaving the rear for now since the sub is so loud. I may put some rear ones in to see if they make a difference. I believe they are 6 1/2" and some models have 5 1/4" as well in the door (?). Also check out crutchfield they have a good vehicle fit guide. Good Luck let us know it works out and ill put up some pics of my stuff again once I have my 4r back.

Ok so i cant find any switch for the antena, but to me it dosent look like a power antena anyways. i took the deck out and there are wires for all the speakers and they are all hooked up. so i decided to look behind the back pannel. there were no speakers but there were 4 wires that ended in a white clip alot like the ones used for the stock speakers. are these the speaker wires? and why would there be 4?
