Problems with rear defrost
#1
I am new and have done searches looking for answers most of you have been verry helpful to those that needed help I can only hope for the same. My rig is a 1985 4runner 22re, detroit front and rear w/529 gears, 33x12.5 rubber manual trans, tube front and rear bumbers, welded rock sliders, no sway bars hella fog and head lights, Intake battery swap. Needless to say it's fun. However a wiring nightmere I have been going through what someone else thought was sufficiant. It had a rear window with the grid for rear defrost but no switch. So I found one and put it in plug was there in the dash. Indicator light came on went off just like it should however the rear window didn't defrost.
Got to looking and the window wasn't pluged in so I wired the window ground to the harness ground in the tailgate and the other lead to the harness lead from the relay of course the relay wasn't there so I found a used one and put it in. Then the indicator light on the switch stayed on. And would not shut off. so I thought bad switch replaced it same thing... Ordered a new relay from toyota and put that in same thing.... Am I missing something. So then I removed the wires from the plug to the relay and tried rearanging them found a setting that would allow the switch to turn off and on again but would not let any voltage to go to the window lead. As a matter of fact could not get any voltage to go to the window lead in any arangement. Any suggestions? I am loosing my hair over this one. Thanks in advance.
