Chances are that the relays in the relay box are going bad from years of use. I got new relays and rebuilt my relay box and my rear window works as good as new. You can replace the the relays in the relay box for under 20.00 dollars. I also used a heavier duty relay than stock. Do a search here and you will find the information needed to rebuild the relay box.

eliminating the relays on a high amp pull motor might be a bad idea...

I did the same exact thing with the 6 prong switch from radio shack and made it work. I got sick of dealing with power window problems and needed something more reliable.

Plus I just plugged into the old power window motor relay under the dash so it's still fused and everything.

Check this out. http://12voltguy.com/web/index.php?p...mart&Itemid=43

I plan on using this pretty soon. Looks like it's a simple install.

This is where I got my power source for the rear window from. 4crawler gave me the idea and says it's perfectly safe because it's fused and everything. Just remove the old power window relay next to the fuse box under the dash.

The Green wire is your power wire, and the port below it is your ground. I just used spade connectors to plug in here.

Then I ran those two wires into the six prong switch, and then two wires to the back window. I'll try to find the diagram I used to wire the switch.

Here's the switch diagram, thanks Mike C.

From: Bryan Tx,
mine needs to be rewired completely, I have a non original tailgate and I think some of the wiring has been pulled out. I've been thinking about buying the 12 volt guy kit but it seems kinda pricey for what it is. I would like to build a similar harness with new relays and all. Thanks for the tips and I'll keep watching this thread.

well i ran into a small snag while wiring up the new switch... i dont know if its just my truck or what, but i dont have that relay thats mentioned, at least in that location, i dont know where its at, so i just ran a wire straight to the battery with an inline fuse to keep it safe, and ran two new wires straight to the motor and now it works again with a switch. so... thanks everyone the help and tips, much appreciated!

well I just ran power of the battery and put a fuse in the line. Ran a dpdt and it worked great. I really like that it is hot the whole time I dont need to have the key in to roll that window down.

From: Bryan Tx,
I got mine working perfectly also. I made it more difficult than it had to be because I wanted to use my factory switch instead of the DPDT switch. O'well the end result is nice and stock looking. I also like it being wired direct to the battery.

i have to agree with the constant power, makes things alot nicer if you dont have your keys on hand.

does the purple line between 3-4 and the green line between 1-6 mean they are 'jumper wires'? I hooked up battery wire to 3 and ground to 6 and motor wires to 2-5 but switch a dpdt only works in one direction. If i swap 2 and 5 it works in other direction. Using female spade type connectors on 3-6, 2-5 how do you get green 1-6 and purple3-4 also connected. Sorry about basic wiring question and thanks for any replies.

Just hook it up exactly as you see it in the diagram. The whole reason 1 and 6, and 3 and 4 are connected together is to reverse the polarity. If you don't do that, then the switch is going to make the window go only one direction

yes, they are just jumper wires, just take a small piece of wire for each jumper and connect the leads
