Light Control Rheostat Dial
#1
I have a 1988 4Runner v6 manual. I have an issue with the light dial not working. When I turn the knob the dash lights stay the same intensity. The rheostat seems to be fine. I cleaned all the contacts and it moves fine and no corrosion. I put a test light on the electrical connections from the dash for the dial and it showed no power, bulb did not light up, and the ground is ok. I did turn the lights on at that time. All my lights work fine but I like to know why this is happening, tis bit baffeling to me. I did a search on here and a couple of people had the same issue but the posts just ended with no resolve. I was wondering if anyone has had a "fix" for this?

I had the same issues on my 96 T100, turned out although the dial was still working it wasnt working properly. Taking it apart Ihad nothing but a circuit board with some capacitors that didnt help me.
My lights worked but the dial didnt do anything, I tried a test light and accidently grounded it out and it smoked and that was it. Got the lights to work by jumpering the connection tho.
Sorry for the rambling, I had to get a new dial for about 80 bucks
