The jumper wire goes where the two copper terminals were on the relay ? The picture is a little fuzzy and just wanted to be 100% correct here . Going camping in the morning and this will make life a lot easier not having to turn the key on all the time.

That diagram makes it look really complicated...

All you have to do is connect the power outlet to unswitched (always on) power. I'd recommend using a fuse tho

no prob. The only time you'd need a relay is if you were putting it on switched power. In that case, you'd avoid the switch (ignition or otherwise) from taking all the load. The switch would signal the relay to close and that would channel the current instead.

I've been doing a complete rewire on an old VW Super Beetle the last few weeks so I've been getting a lot of practice with this stuff haha (luckily those things only have about 30 important wires to them).

 

Haha ya I've done a re-wire on a Beetle once . Was a very early year so it wasn't to bad . What year is the Super B ?
There's a red S-Beetle sitting down the road where I live , been there for 2 years and hasn't moved and I am so tempted to make an offer. Its dusty but looks in really good condition .

 

It's a 74, the year before they went to fuel injection I believe. It's been a lot of work but it's almost done. The seatbelt interlock system and test connector was over half the harness, but I just cut those out.
