Fuel and temp gages dead sometimes?

Fuel and temp gages dead sometimes?
On a '87, 4x4, with a 22r motor and 5 speed.......This morning the fuel and temp gages didn't work....again.
Then, coming home about 4 pm they worked fine.
Its done it a few times in the last week, but NOT every day.
Any ideas in troubleshooting this are GREATLY appreciated.

It could be a poor connection where the harness plugs into the gauge cluster.
These are in different plugs
broken trace on the cluster itself.
Physical damage to the harness.
Just chance both sensors having problems together .
