I have an 89 Toyota P/U with a 22RE engine that has been sitting for a while (6+ mos). The battery died and I got it charged but when I got it to another location it died as I was parking it into a stall and will not start up again. To get it to work I needed a vehicle to vehicle charge and I let it run for about 15 minutes. Should I have let it run longer initially?

What are my possibles causes and fixes?

 

Have the battery properly charged and then load tested. They don't like to lay discharged.
