electrical information needed for 3.0 3vzfe to 3.4 5vzfe swap.
i have a 1993 toy 4runner with a 3.0L 3vzfe that has a blown headgasket.
we are sourcing parts at the moment to do the 5vzfe swap. the company we are buying it from has the whole front clip of the 1998 4runner.
we are already planning to buy the engine (no accessories included) and the ecu.
should we just purchase the entire engine harness also?
i don't plan on buying the ORS one, unless its the very last resort.
i already read many many links on how to do the swap, even the electrical threads were vauge. when im done, im going to create a .dwg (autocad) file that would layout the whole schematic on how to build one yourself. or those without autocad access ill can print out some huge pictures (36"x 500' , yes that's 500 feet!!) so hopefully some experienced 3.4L swappers would chime in for the electrical help.

I'd get the harness, and anything else you can- bolts, fittings, nuts, brackets, etc. All that stuff adds up over time (either finding it or buying it). It'll save ya lots of time.
There isn't much put out as far as what ORS does due to the proprietary nature. I'm an electrical guy, so wiring is real easy for me- but it was worth my time to go with their stuff. Did it look like an $800 harness? to me, no. I will say that they use larger wiring than the factory, but unfortunately they use alot of the same color.
I've back-traced alot of what they've done- not very complicated, but I didn't want to go through the expense of buying factory ECM connectors.

Yes!!!!!! You have to have that, I wouldn't buy the 3.4 engine without it. With or without the ORS harness you need the 3.4 engine harness and the 3.4 ECU, igniter, MAF, evap VSV stuff, O2 sensors, etc...
ORS has a good list here:

Also (if you don't use the ORS harness) try to get the OBD2 connector under the dash so you can read and reset all those CEL codes you're going to throw. It only takes 4 wires to connect it to the ECU, but you need the connector. Also the other connectors for the ECU to body harness (if you don't get the ORS harness)

I think that you can't find info on the 3.4 swap wiring because there is a wide varietyof engines and wiring. I did my own wiring and had to go back once and redo the a/c wiring but everthing else wasn't to complicated. I have my wiring mapped out on 3 seperate sheets but I'm reluctant to post it cause I don't want to mess anybody's swap up.
