i got a cb/pa system in my truck but i not getting enough power to my pa speaker. whats the best place to get power from right now i have it running right out of my fuse box on a 75 amp fuse i believe . im no electrion so tell me if im doing this wrong.

 

I'd like to know which 75 amp fuse you have that hooked to for one. Only thing that high I can think of is the fusible link which is 100% power and is not switched off when the key is off. This in itself is a bad thing.

Best way to wire it up is off on a circuit that only gets power when the key is on. Use a switch that will control a relay that will get it's power directly from the battery if you feel the circuit will not provide enough power to the PA speaker.

 

i just wired mine straight to the battery it cuts out all the interferance from the engine especialy when it revs so you dont hear it through the cb .

now for power to the pa the cb may have a set output for the pa and only alow that maybe repositiong the pa is your best bet and easiet fix

not sure which fuse its wired to. but wiring it to a switch sounds likes the best way to do it, but where can i wire in my switch so it can be turned on when the car is on or off and still make enough power? sorry if these question are dumb i really have no clue what im doing

 

Its not a 75 amp fuse, its a 7.5 amp fuse. I would hook it up directly to the battery using a 30 amp fuse. Or hook it up to a higher amp fuse in the fuse box.

 

i dont see a fuse higher than 7.5amp

 

Alright what type of CB is it? first off. is your CB working at all? or just not the PA?

Second, Where do you currently have it wired to?

 

well its midland 1001z. my cb is working i havnt mounted my antenna yet but i have the antenna cable hook up. for right now i just want the pa to work. i have it wired into a7.5 amp fuse in the fuse box. it doesnt seem to be making a enough power

 

alright. I have done a few of these. i spliced them right into the cigarette lighter wires. so it runs off of ignition, or at least in the 2nd gens that how it works. With yours i would find something that it splices directly into the ignition so when the vehicle is on its on.

Or do the relay + switch + cb route.

 

I have that same Midland unit-in my 3rd gen 4Runner. I used one of the "extra" cigarette lighter power leads. So that is a switched source-it only draws power when the key is in the accessory or ignition position. If I remove the key-even if I have left the CB on-it goes dead-and can not run down the battery.

Don't really understand how your PA speaker would not be getting enough power-if the CB has power then the PA is getting it too. My immediate guess is that you sit in the truck and speak into the microphone at the PA setting-and don't really hear yourself. Put a buddy outside the truck and see if he/she hears it. If you don't have enough volume, then increase your gain slightly a bit at a time and keep testing.

Short of that I would say perhaps the PA wire or plug got "pinched" as you pulled it through the firewall and it's not getting full signal. Or the speaker itself is faulty/rusted out, etc.

 

well right now its mounted inside. but i get feed back from the car when it revs up so does the speaker what could be causing this. and i fixed the problem with it not getting enough power. adn when i say i fixed i mean it just got a lot louder one haha

 

so i got it all hooked up today with my anntenna and everything. my pa has plenty of power but my cb is working at all. is there something else i have to do beside just wire it all up
