Brake Light Socket wont come off- 05 4runner

Brake Light Socket wont come off- 05 4runner
I am trying to replace the left brake light bulb in my 2005 4runner but I am unable to turn and/or pull the brake light socket. Is there anything I should do first. I read all that I can over the web it says make a 1/4 turn counterclockwise and the socket wont even turn a bit. Please help with any idea. Thanks
